Each region of Ukraine has its own unique ornament, preserved for many centuries, handed down from generation to generation, depicted on embroidered shirts, tableware, household items, etc.
THE CODE OF THE NATION series of glass Christmas ornaments handmade by the Kharkiv region series was developed by Alena Mamay, who carefully thought out every millimeter of the toy and put meaning, a part of her soul and love for Ukraine into every touch of paint.
The black color represents Mother Earth herself. The rhombus is an ancient symbol of harvest and fertility, combining the feminine and masculine (lower and upper triangles). Very often, the diamond is seen as a feminine symbol because it is about fertility. Flowers are usually a symbol of stars, souls and children. And also girlish beauty.
White is a symbol of purity, the beginning of everything, and is also a symbol of paradise itself (Iria). The rooster is the herald of the dawn. A symbol of light overcoming darkness. A guardian of good. Flowers are symbols of the soul. Black underlines the power of white.
Red is a symbol of celestial fire. The Tree of Life symbolises the universe, where every creature has its own place and every phenomenon is subject to higher rules. It also symbolises the family.
The main goal of this collection is to preserve the national code, popularise Ukrainian ornamentation and to pass this memory on to their descendants, to teach them to "read" their own true heritage, to bring back the inheritance and the strong and unbroken bond of the family.
